In addition to our Marcellus and Utica shale acreage in
Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Ohio, CONSOL Energy also has
operations in the Chattanooga, Lower Huron and New Albany shales -
expanding our natural gas reserves to Tennessee, Virginia,
Northeast Kentucky, Southern West Virginia, Indiana and Illinois.
The ability to tap into the significant potential of these shale
beds is tied to advances in drilling technology, such as horizontal
drilling and hydraulic fracturing.
