Gateway to the world's energy market

Located on 200 acres along the north shore of the Patapsco
River, CONSOL Energy's Baltimore Marine terminal in the Port of
Baltimore is the only East Coast terminal served by two rail lines
- Norfolk Southern and CSX Transportation. The Baltimore Marine
Terminal features high-speed, high-capacity equipment that provides
coal transshipment directly from rail cars to ocean-going vessels.
The terminal has ground storage facility for more than 1.1 million
tons of coal and exported a record 12.9 million tons in 2011,
making CONSOL Energy the largest coal exporter in Baltimore.
International Coal Shipment
CONSOL Energy is participating in the growth of world coal
markets, which are projected to grow 55 percent by 2035. To better
service that growth in demand, which increased our thermal coal
exports by approximately 2-3 million tons in 2011, the Baltimore
Marine Terminal has made an infrastructure investment
that will allow CONSOL Energy to increase the amount of coal we can
export by 15 million tons annually.
With growing global demand for coal, the terminal gives CONSOL
Energy a competitive advantage with overseas customers. Because the
company owns its own terminal, it can provide coordinated and
assured shipping services. This competitive advantage has earned
CONSOL Energy multi-year contracts with European power producers,
and the company anticipates continued growth in the European, Pan
Asian and South American markets.
Other Services
The Marine Terminal is also a service provider for shipments of
metals, forest products and other break bulk cargo.
